Word Play
Here you will find my second most important Digital Imaging project after the movie poster. It is a wordplay, or a design with a title partially made up of objects. My subject was Halloween, and from planning I chose to replace the "A" and "O" with objects relating to the holiday, as well as an entire scene that is easily recognizable even without the title. I enjoyed designing this and receiving compliments on it. Significance here includes the use of drop shadows and image masking.
The use of everything from spooky to sweet makes the possible clients here broad. One could want it for anything from a party banner to an advertisement. No matter the occasion, the wordplay is meant to promote the October season and draw plenty of attention.
Process
"Halloween" was a subject chosen from one of four different wordplay candidates. I was also asked to find 3 photoshop tutorials online before starting this project to practice and learn new techniques.
Challenges
While this project felt easy from my perspective, a common challenge I am often unaware of is seeing through a different viewpoint. For example, The shadows of everything in the picture were originally a bordering effects shadow. I didn't give this a second thought, and in the early stages of the design, viewers explained that this effect made it seem as though everything was floating.
Solutions
Reviewers advised that I look up how to make a drop shadow in Photoshop, so I did just that. Now I am no longer afraid to do research whenever I get stuck and branch out my knowledge over time.
