Beverage Label
Once I was more advanced in graphic design, I was assigned to design a label for a drink targeted at young adults who were single or recently married. The name of this brand was Lunar Milk, a space-themed brand of nutritious dairy for adults who hope to achieve healthy bones. Like many milk brands, it comes in three flavors: Reduced fat, chocolate, and strawberry.
The next competency was an extension of this design where I had to design an appropriate environment for the use and advertisement of Lunar Milk. In this fluorescent casino and bar, an individual can eat, drink, play cards, and gamble while Lunar Milk is advertised throughout.

Process
There is a surprising backstory to this design. What turned out to be a big success that a client would love was initially a concept that I was reluctant to go with. In the beginning, I was asked to come up with three possible names for my beverage. Each of the names that I came up with foretold a different theme. The first was "Lactodon," a name foretelling the power of large animals and the second was "Sherriff Calcium," representing strength and agility from a wild west hero.
However, during the peer review stage, the majority of my classmates voted for the third option, "Lunar." This name was originally just an indirect reference to the poem "Hey Diddle Diddle," but my professor pointed out other relations to the moon and milk, such as both containing calcium and being cold. With that, I agreed to go with this name, despite it being plain and unexciting.
I ran into the same issue again in the rough drafts. I tried to think of a label that would stand out to the target audience and tried many different strategies with deep meanings, including a personified moon portraying the support for bones that calcium provides and references to multiple folklore stories about the moon. But from group critique, I was forced to choose option 1, a more literal moon reference.
While I was unsure about this label design at first, I gradually gained confidence as I worked through the design process. Now I'm grateful for the name and logo that were chosen and have gained skill in perseverance.

Challenges
As mentioned above, the hardest part of this label was moving forward with a name and design that seemed weak at first.
Solutions
This project taught me how I can use my creativity to solve open-ended problems and how far my imagination can go.
